While reinforce concrete block construction is strong, by itself it has very poor insulation properties which permits a large amount of heat transfer through the walls of your home, which is the main factor affecting your cooling cost. An 8” concrete block has an R value of less than 3. COOl SEAL with an R factor of 4.6 per inch significantly increases the R factor of Concrete block to over R24 per block cell. Concrete Block also has many open cavities within the wall allowing many pests and insects to go undetected. These open cavities also provide a passage of air that can fuel fire should it occur.
